Worth the time.

The day I wrote this entry, I was officially in home (my sweet home Malaysia) for less than 2 days (22/06/08), yet I’ve experience so much thing that might sound uneventful to some but priceless to me. Every time I went back to Malaysia, all the usual things never fail to give me good memories. ^_^ It really is true: everything does stem from the way you perceive things, and it all rooted from what you believe in deep down in your heart.

Event 1: reading Emirates donation brochure

The flight from Moscow to Dubai was around 5 hours; I usually slept if off after eating or reading magazine yet at that time I was restless. I can’t sleep properly, nor do I enjoy the food like I usually do. And so, I’ve started reading whatever Emirates put inside the seat pockets very attentively (mind you, I read them from corner to corner, top to bottom and words by words). Then I come across these-4-colourful-pages-about-donation-brochure that somehow makes my heart ache. There are 3 stories inside; wrote about different people living in different places and different time yet there all bear the same details: there were all very bright but unfortunate children. Seeing their smiling faces despite the not-so-hostile-condition, it really wonders me how graceful but strong heart they have. In recognizing that there is much more to them than just the meek body (due to malnourishment and poverty), they need all the love and care, provided with good money and education too of course. The ‘Bus them to Purkal’ project really caught my attention. This 10 year project was made for girls living in remote villages in the foothills of Himalaya (Northern India). They helped buses 20 girls to English medium school in the city (30 minutes ride) and later to the society’s school for classes and a daily meal. All the girls are thriving very well despite their unfortunate backgrounds. Their only complaint is that those people who help them (in this case Emirates and some NGO supervising this project) did not wish the girls to be with them on Sundays. T_T (they really want to learn yet for those who have the opportunity didn’t…) So for those like me who are lucky enough to have family, place to stay and education, starts counting your blessing! Life should never be taken for granted.

Event 2: lessons I learn from the Ultraman show.

According to my youngest brother Dos (he was the reason why I stuck to watch the episode in the first place), this Ultraman show is the newest one: series of Ultraman Max- design with 3 small horns on top of its head. As usual, the story is about the heroes fighting the alien (in this case, an ugly monster which just hatch from a very big white egg with the appearance of turtle plus 2 different-i-don’t-know-what-kind-of-species it is).In the story no matter how hard the Ultraman tried, the monster just wont died. And here comes the best part: one small crying girl starts playing a very sad yet beautiful song with her flute. (Well, actually, I know it’s not the girl that played it since I can hear there is also sound of piano in the song she played – a wonderful classical piece). The girl was crying because her village is thoroughly destroyed and her mother died in the incident. She played the song as her last respect to the dead. Somehow, the monster became very still and started changing shape to a golden shining different combination of musical instruments (the turtle shape still intact though); harps, flute, soprano recorders and string quartet if I’m not mistaken. In the end: the only things that help Ultraman saved the day are by offering peace (through the sad song played by the girl), how irony is that? This is how the children’s show should be made. Teach the children that violence and aggression are not the only way to solve problem. As much as I hate to point out that there are far too much hatred and anger unresolved all around us (especially adult), it is also important to note that along the way, love is still the best way to help us last the day. We are human after all!!

Ps: there are more events to tell, but I guess that’s all I have to say for now. See you in the next entry =)
