being objective

Once upon a time a certain ruler came to a teacher, who was meditating while sitting on top of a tree.

The ruler examined this place and said: "What a dangerous place you have chosen, there at the top of a tree!"

"Yours is much worse than mine," objected the teacher.

"I am the ruler of this land and I dont see anything that may threaten me."

"That means you don't know yourself! What can be more dangerous than when you try to fought your flaws and passions while at the same time you lose your clearness and firmness?"

Then the ruler asked him: "What is it that you teach?"

The teacher quoted a famous lines: "do not do evil, allude to good and kept your heart pure."

The ruler objected to this: " Every 3 year old child knows it."

"a 3 year old may know it, but even an 80 years old man finds it difficult to put it to practice."

-----> well, what do you think? is the teacher right all the way?

Actually, if you think of it from a muslim perspective, if WE do follows the testament of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), WE muslims do not meditate on top of the tree and then quotes things like that. Besides being a dangerous act while not thinking clearly at the same time, the teacher did not set a good example to those whom he teached. (i think) He should leads an active life, strengthening his faith in practice, achieving great success in life (like the ruler for example) but at the same time not disturbing the balance, conscience and the firmness of faith to the God.

that is what i will answer. How about you?
